LITTLE MISS BOOK LOVER:
Well where do I start with this absolute gem? I mean I am a little lost for words. We are introduced to a plot with a missing child- twenty three years prior to this novel. As a reader, this is presented from multiple points of view- this is an element I love because it really gives us a true representation of the different characters.
This is filled with themes of toxicity (hope that's a word) and revenge. I LOVED IT!! This is a fast paced and thrilling novel. I have been completely addicted to this one and admit that this is a novel which kept me awake at night because I was desperate to find out where this was going.
I am ashamed to admit that I haven't read anything by this author previously but it definitely hasn't disappointed and I 100% need more. This is multi-layered and intriguing. I have enjoyed unravelling each layer and delving deeper into the dark side.
I am a converted fan of the author and this is a novel which I have no doubt or hesitation in recommending. I NEED MORE!!!
TRAVELS ALONG MY BOOKSHELF:
Ooh this is juicy!
A child that has gone missing never to be found, wreaking havoc through peoples lives. There is blame everywhere, especially of Christine, who lost sight of her daughter whilst trying to speak to her lover.
We get inside the heads of the people involved in this story. Christine who shut down and blamed herself now seeking psychiatric help again. Greg her husband who hates her for losing their child and now spends time shagging Amber his young lover. Then their friends Janine and Miranda and their kids Ellie and Daniel who can't stand their mother, who never loved them. Then there's Dr Cousins the Psychiatrist, cool and professional - well we have a brilliant set up.
With short sharp chapters alternating along timelines and through the different characters heads we start to unravel what has happened.
There is a creeping sense of tension and it transpires early on that Heidi is still alive and wanting revenge, or is she?- is it her? Who held her and brought her up as her 'mother'? There are so many clues drip fed through this to keep you hooked, I just couldn't put it down - so cleverly done!
No one seems to be able to tell the truth, so many twisting secrets we go from one unreliable narrator to many!
I felt myself constantly questioning what I thought and changing my mind about who Heidi could be and who her 'mother' was. You are inside their heads and they mess with your mind! There are quite a lot of double standards going on and ultimately the characters are very selfish individuals. It is full of dark obsession, manipulation and deceit, it's fabulous and will have you gripped until the very end!

She's Mine is a fast-paced and complex thriller, with interesting characters throughout.
The plot is centred around the disappearance of a child, Heidi, who is abducted when her mother, Christine, turns her back to take a phonecall in a busy shopping centre.
Christine's life is turned upside down, especially as she has no closure about what happened, and she blames herself, arguably with good reason.
Several years later, a mysterious note appears claiming that Heidi is still alive, once again throwing Christine's life into turmoil. But is it true, and who sent the note?

The story evolves and is revealed through multiple character perspectives, which switch between past and present to build tension well.
There are a whole raft of characters surrounding Christine, including her partner Greg, their two grown up children, and their two close friends Janine and Miranda (with an added layer of complexity in that Miranda used to date Greg).
Another key character is Christine's new therapist who seems to be making headway and encouraging Christine to genuinely open up, after years of hiding secrets and punishing herself.

𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂, 𝗼𝗿 𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝘆 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘁? 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗯𝗲 𝘀𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲, 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁.

There are various themes tackled throughout the book, including infidelity, jealousy, revenge, guilt, and what hiding secrets can do to a person.
This is a story that focuses on the dark side of humanity and the messiness of people's everyday lives. Although it's centred around a child's disappearance, the story is rich and complex, and the abduction doesn't simply do all the work to drive the plot.
There are twists aplenty, and Chaudhuri really kept me guessing throughout with subtle hints and misdirections before revealing the truth.
Also, for those who like a bit of spice in a book, there are also a number of very steamy scenes throughout.

Overall I would highly recommend She's Mine if you enjoy thrillers, and would definitely read more by A A Chaudhuri. I think fans of Call Me Mummy by Tina Baker would enjoy this thriller for sure.
